Anthony (Tony) Lawton Fulford, 77, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
Tony was born on February 19,1942 in Atlanta, Ga. to the late Aubrey Lawton Fulford and Myrtle Spooner Fulford.
Being an Army brat, Tony started first grade in New York, NY and graduated from Midland City High School in 1960 with many locations in between.
After high school Tony joined the United States Air Force (USAF). He was stationed with the 39th Bomb Wing at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. While in the AF, he played football for the Eglin AFB Eagles and was an inflight diagnostic technician for navigation and radar equipment on B-52 bombers.
After a four year tour of service, he was employed by Page Aircraft at Fort Rucker, Al. In 1965 he joined International Business Machines (IBM). Tony held many progressive positions with IBM as a Customer Engineer, Software Computer Programmer, Software Development Manager, and Systems Engineer before his retirement in January 1996.
Tony is survived by his wife, Leathie (Lea) Dixon Fulford; his son, Tad Fulford (Mandy) of Murrells Inlet, SC; his daughter, Nicki Fulford of Winston Salem, NC; his stepson, Doug Keeter of Roanoke Rapids, NC; seven grandchildren, Casey and Lawton Fulford of Little River, SC; Hadley, Hazel and Archer Fulford of Murrells Inlet, SC; DJ and CJ Keeter of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three sisters, Mary Beth Robertson of Prattville, Al., Peggy Jones (Benny) of Dothan, AL, Becky Sawyer (Mike) of Denver, CO. and brother Ted Fulford (Brenda Ann) of Abbeville, Al, brother in law; John Herring, and several nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Herring and Joyce Lee.
Memorial service at Grimes Methodist Church, Grimes, Al will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
