Date of Service A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at Covenant United Methodist Church with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for 1 hour prior to the service. Anthony “Tony” Tippins Segrest, a resident of Dothan, AL passed away at his residence on Monday, August 16, 2021. He was 73.

Tony was born on March 24, 1948 in Hartford, AL and was a 1966 graduate of Slocomb High School. He attended Marion Military Institute and earned a business degree from the University of Alabama. Tony returned home to work in the family business, Segrest Feed & Seed for over 20 years. He later moved to Augusta, GA and then to Albany, GA where he owned and operated a feed and seed company. After moving back to Dothan, he owned and operated several small businesses. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church.


Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh B. Segrest, Sr. and Ida Williams Segrest; his sister, Lydianne Merritt; and his brother, Hugh Segrest, Jr.


Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Jackie Segrest; his sons, Seth (Jennifer) Segrest and Ben (Harriett) Segrest; his stepchildren, DeLana (Ben) Jaggars, Kimberly (Jonathan) Trawick and Kristina Holland; his grandchildren, Justin Segrest, Claire Segrest and Cody Hamm; his sister, Susan (Johnny) Cox; his brothers-in-law, Harold Merritt, Wayne (Linda) Brackin, and Steve (Felecia) Brackin; his sisters-in-law, Patty Segrest and Charlotte (Kenneth) Miller; and several nieces and nephews.


Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Peacock, Bo Thagard, Fred Gouge, Steve Segrest, Art Solomon, Eddie Keel and Otto Voellinger.


The family would like to express their thanks for the care and concern provided by Encompass Hospice and their dedicated professionals, Daryl Bates, Taylor Perkins, Pam Crossley, Lindsey Dahlquist and Meka Thompkins; and family friend, Joan Wright.
