Ariel Nichole Smith, a resident of Midland City, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. She was 21.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.


Ariel was born on July 28, 1997 in Dale County and lived there most of her life. She attended Dale County High School and Hartford School before graduating from Harvest Christian School in 2015. Ariel attended Troy University and at the time of her death was employed with Flowers Hospital. She was very witty and fast on her feet. She liked to make people laugh. Ariel was crazy about her fur babies, Zeus and Layla. She loved playing X-Box, being outdoors riding four wheelers, being with her friends, and was a huge Alabama football fan.


Ariel was preceded in death by her great-great-grandmother, Masie Mills, her great-grandfather, Governor Dean, her grandfather, Jim Exum, a great-grandmother, Eunice Hall, a great uncle, Roger Dean, a great-grandfather, R.B. Parker, great-grandmother, Aline Brannon, and her first angel baby.


Survivors include her husband, Jordan Smith; her parents, Mandy (John) Bond and Donald (Christina) Parker; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Judy and Max Smith; her sisters, Lacey Parker and Emma Parker; her brothers, Tristan Bond and Dylian Bond; her grandparents, Paul and Jamelia Evans, Chet and Tammy Exum, Bill and Debbie Walker, Donald Ray Parker, Sr., and Sara Parker; her great-grandparents, Edward and Fay Jackson, Sara N. Parker, and Brenda Exum; her aunts and uncles, Therese (Jack) Walker, Paul Evans, Jr., and Miranda (Andy) Atwell; her great-uncle, Mark (Paula) Jackson; several cousins including Kaylie Atwell and Nathan Atwell.
