Jerry was born June 23, 1960, in Dothan, to Arnold Jones and Jeanette Cain Griffin. He was a graduate of Emmanuel Christian School, and attended Birmingham Bible College, as well as Wallace College, where he met the love of his life, Alexia White of Blakely, Ga. Jerry served as Minister of Music at several Dothan area churches for many years. He had a beautiful voice and loved singing. Some of his favorite gospel groups were Bill & Gloria Gaither & Friends, The Crabb Family, Greater Vision, and others.
He later owned a small engine repair business until his health kept him from working.
Jerry never met a stranger and had a larger- than- life personality. He was a Christian, and a member of Pathway Baptist Church for the last few years. Although not able to socialize for several years, Jerry enjoyed talking to his friends on the phone and communicating on Facebook. Jerry was a good listener and a good advisor. He loved his wife, sons, and grandchildren, as well as his faithful dogs, and his many, many friends. His favorite scripture was Jeremiah 29:11-13. Jerry was loved by many and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Alexia; sons, AJ (Morgan) Griffin and Alex Griffin of Dothan; grandchildren, Cynthia Jean (known as CJ) and Rowan Griffin, of Dothan; sisters, Nancy (Ben) Baker of Ozark and Celeste (Tommy) Horne of Dothan; nephews, Clark (Alvin) Harris of Troy and Griffin Harris of Birmingham; sister-in-law, Vivian (Ron) Reed of Decatur, Ga; nieces, Harper, Rachel and Erin Reed of Ga; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his faithful companion dogs – Sadie, Patton, and Molly.
