Arthur Eugene “Gene” Mashburn, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Marianna Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, April 4, 2019 in Highland Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church,
Mr. Mashburn, son of Henry and Ruthie Mashburn, was born on July 28, 1935 in Franklin, North Carolina. Gene was a member of the 1954 graduating class of Franklin High School where he was very active in sports, especially the football program.
Gene was employed with Burlington Industries at the Franklin plant and was promoted to management in 1960 and moved to the Dothan plant at that time. He went on to work at Ansell and Akwell Industries before retiring in 2000. Gene was an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. He loved his family and spent much of his time enjoying his children and grandchildren and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities all of his life.
Gene is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mariann Sherrill Mashburn of Franklin; his 3 children, Steve (Jan) Mashburn of Dothan, Mark (Denise) Mashburn of Dothan, and Misty (Don) Mashburn Davis of Mobile; his 3 beautiful grandchildren, Caroline Eugenia Davis, Chelsie (Stuart) Mashburn Kolkman, and Mallory Mashburn Camerio; and his great-granddaughter, Isabelle Grace Camerio.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Jirayos Chintanadilok (“Dr. Chin”) of Marianna and the staff of Marianna Health and Rehab for their loving care.
