Ashley McLendon Newton, age 39 of Dothan (formerly Panama City), died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the home of her father, under the care of Kindred Hospice following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Ashley will be held at 2pm Friday, February 23, 2018 in the Family First Funeral Care Chapel with Pastor Sam Parkes officiating, her cousin, Micah Swift and aunt, Sylvia Clyborne offering remarks. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time in the Chapel. Private burial will follow in the Pinckard City Cemetery.
Ashley was born February 16, 1979 and lived the early years of her life in Pinckard before moving to Panama City where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Mosley High School and attended Northside Baptist Church in Panama City. Ashley moved to Dothan a year ago to live with her father while she sought treatment for Pancreatic Cancer.
Ashley is preceded in death by her mother, Nita McLendon; her brother, Matt McLendon and grandparents. Survivors include her father, Bill McLendon and a special friend, Renee Daniels of Dothan; a daughter, Brittany Wood and two sons, Andrew Wood and Anthony Newton, all of Panama City. A maternal grandfather, Robert Davis of Eufaula; an uncle, Jim McLendon of San Antonia, TX; an aunt, Sylvia Clyborne of Greenville, SC; a special great-aunt, Billie Jean McLendon of Cottonwood and numerous cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Cloverdale United Methodist Church and Kindred Hospice for the exceptional care shown during this time.
