Barbara Ann Edwards, 63, of Dothan, passed away Tuesday August 1, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Saturday August 5, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Edwards was born in Houston County and lived in Dothan all her life. She was a 1971 graduate of Rehobeth High School. Ms. Edwards was a 1993 graduate of Troy University where she received her Bachelor’s and later received her Master’s in Early Childhood Education. She was employed with the Dothan City School system and where she was a First-Grade teacher at Hidden Lake Elementary until her retirement in 2014. Ms. Edwards was all about her family and enjoyed spending time with them by going on cruises. Ms. Edwards was also a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth Armstrong; and her brother, Gary Armstrong.

Survivors include her son Jason (Kristi) Edwards; her daughter, Kimberly (Jason) Kirkland; her grandchildren, Callie Grayce Faulkner, Conner Peacock, Bella Kirkland; Priscilla Bryan and Dustin Bryan; her great-grandson, Zander Bryan, her brother, Mike (Carmen) Armstrong; her sister in law Brenda Armstrong; and several aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews.
