Barbara Ann Spears, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Flowers Hospital. She was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Linda Suzanne Borgen officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 a.m.
Mrs. Spears was born on February 11, 1945 in Geneva County and lived the early years of her life there. She graduated in 1963 from Geneva High School. Mrs. Spears was employed with the City of Geneva, Jason’s at Porter Square Mall, and later with Southeastern Apparel as a bookkeeper until she retired in 2013. She and her husband, Jacky, were in the antique business and loved to travel to many amazing places looking for antique treasures. Mrs. Spears loved gardening, and had many plants at her home. She attended Harvest Church.
Mrs. Spears was preceded in death by her husband, Jacky Spears, her parents, Eddie McCook and Lois Wise, her grandson, Zachary Spears, and her sister, Jean Whitten.
Survivors include her son, David Wayne Spears; her daughters, Pamela Spears Cook and Lisa Spears Stephens; her 7 grandchildren, Chad Edwards, Chase Thomas, Abbey Cook, Ashley Cook, Coley Stephens, Sam Stephens, and Taylor Spears; her 2 sisters, Sandy McCook (Rob) Hill and Linda McCook (Julius) Vaughan; and several nieces and nephews.
