Barbara Jean McGinnis

Barbara Jean McGinnis was ushered into the Heavenly arms of Jesus on February 4th, 2021. She was eighty-eight years of age. A woman of simplicity, humility, and kindness, she will be remembered for her gentle smile and accepting heart.

Born on April 16, 1932 in Cedar Vale, Kansas, Barbara was one of seven children born to Kale A. Williams and Hazel P. Williams. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Ross H. McGinnis, and two sons Matthew and Andrew.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Katy M. Maddox, and husband David S. Maddox of Headland, Alabama, and their children Christopher, Grady, Murphy, McDavid, and Mary Michael. She also is survived by her son, Lincoln M. McGinnis and wife Rhonda A. McGinnis of Greenwood, South Carolina, and their children Schuyler and Cecilia. Lastly, Barbara is survived by a loving sister, Nancy W. Richards of Wichita, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was a master gardener and loved her plants, as well as the joy of observing wildlife around her home. An active member of Headland United Methodist Church, Barbara was loved and will be missed - but her family and friends rejoice that she is in heaven.
