Barbara "Prissy" Joan Peel Coker, 58, of Leesburg, GA passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at Wilson Hospice House in Albany, GA.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Coley Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Coker was born January 15, 1955 to Bernard Quay and Elizabeth Joan Peel. Every birth is a miracle, yet she was blessed with many miracles that blessed her with a long life that doctors never expected her to have. Prissy was born with severe complications of the heart, yet she never let it get her down, she loved life and made the best of it. An avid Auburn fan which conflicted with her best friend and sister, DJ, always made the Iron Bowl a special time. Having no children of her own, all the kids that knew her called her "Aunt B." Barbara worked at TG&Y, Farm Bureau, and GTE. Her humor and wit kept everyone in stitches. She was a good devoted wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. She will be missed by all who knew her - not only my sister, but my best friend, we kept the phone or computer running hot many a night.
Prissy was preceded in death by her mother Joan Peel, and grandparents, Lena and Bernard Peel, Thelma and Fernie Jackson.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her husband Thurman "Ted" Coker; her father and wonderful step-mother, Quay and Barbara Ann Peel; a sister Debra Jean "DJ" Peel.
Remember me with smiles and laughter for that would be how I remember you, if you only remember me with tears and frowns, then don't remember me at all.
