Barbara Sue White, a loving and gentle soul, passed away on April 11, 2023, in Dothan, AL. Born on December 26, 1945, in Blakely, GA.



Sue was a dedicated aide at Early County Elementary School, where she had a significant impact on countless students over the years. Her commitment to education and the well-being of children was evident in everything she did, and she was a beloved figure in the community. She was also an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. In her free time, Sue was an avid gardener and took great pride in her beautiful flower beds. She also enjoyed sewing, creating many beautiful and unique pieces for her family and friends. Her culinary skills were renowned, and she was always eager to share her delicious creations with those around her. Sue’s love for the outdoors extended to her enjoyment of beach trips and camping with her children, creating lasting memories and instilling a love of nature in her family. Barbara's gentle spirit and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her devotion to her family, friends, and faith was unwavering, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.



Sue was the daughter of Oscar and Eunice Knighton, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her three sons, Trey (Kay) White, Stephen (Joy) White, and Jonathan (Janie Mae) White; her grandchildren, Dixie White, Zack (Crystal) White, Benjamin White, and Eli White, and her eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Sunny Knighton and Charles Knighton, and her sisters, Anna Jean Mulkey and Vera "Bebo" Kirkland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer White, Jr., her grandson, Roger White, and her sisters, Peggy Sinqufield and Myrium Slaton.
