BEATRICE DEATON
ABBEVILLE, ALABAMA…Beatrice Deaton, a resident of Pensacola, formerly of Abbeville, died Tuesday morning, March 19, 2013. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 23, 2013, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Bob Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery - East. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville Memorial Library General Fund, 301 Kirkland Street, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Deaton was a native of Norway, Michigan, daughter of the late, Carl E. Blackberg and Mamie Henry Blackberg. She lived in Chicago for eighteen years prior to moving to Abbeville in 1962. Mrs. Deaton relocated to Pensacola in 2010. She retired from the Abbeville Memorial Library and in earlier years, drove the Bookmobile for the library. Mrs. Deaton was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was an active volunteer at the Judson Baptist Association Thrift Store in Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Deaton; a sister, Pearl Lobello; and a brother, Aver Blackberg.
Surviving relatives include four sons, Danny Deaton and wife, Susanne, Cantonment, FL; Doug Deaton and wife, Cathy, Echo Community; Donald Deaton and wife, Terri; Bruce Deaton and wife, Dinah, all of Abbeville; three sisters, Lucille Money, Abbeville; Georgia Broderson, and Gloria Hulce, both of Vulcan, MI; six grandchildren, Danny Deaton, Jr.; Laurie Battle and husband, Troy; Ryan Deaton; Amanda Gurman and husband, Mike; Ann Marie Bradley and husband, “Duck;” Frederick Deaton; two step-grandchildren, Justin Snell and Jessica Snell; eight great-grandchildren.
