After a tragic ATV accident at the family’s farm in Headland, Alabama, Beckett Reid Burkhardt, age 8, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, July 30, 2018, at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Beckett, a resident of Wicksburg, Alabama, was born on March 17, 2010 in Dothan. Beckett, a well-known student at Wicksburg Elementary School, who was just entering the third grade, was loved by all that knew him. Most would agree that Beckett, had a twinkle in his eye, always mischief on his mind, and a head of curls that like his personality, was hard to restrain.

In his short life, Beckett showed us all not just how to live, but to appreciate the life that was given by living it to its fullest. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, participated head on in baseball, football, snow and water skiing, dirt biking, four-wheeling, zip lining, ice skating, and any other adrenaline sport that he could push boundaries with.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dothan, Alabama, with Bishop Larry Brown officiating. Burial services will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, with Robert Byrd directing. Visitation will be held on August 3, 2018, from 4-6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.

Survivors include his parents, Buck and Alyson (Shelley) Burkhardt; his brothers, Maddox, Mason and Hudson Burkhardt; grandparents, Tony and Beverly (Darley) Shelley, Mark and Ann (Holt) Burkhardt; great-grandmother, Earlene (Sims) Darley; aunts and uncles, J.J. and Natalie (Shelley) Hutto, Aaron and Michelle (Shelley) Jones, Aaron and Allison (Haynes) Shelley, Burke and Shelley (Fuller) Burkhardt, and Brock and Corinne (Guggisberg) Burkhardt; and numerous cousins.

Flowers may be delivered directly to the funeral home, and a memorial fund has graciously been established by his community, at Trinity Bank, in memory of Beckett Burkhardt.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements. Please call us or visit www.SunsetMemorialPark.com for more information.
