Ben Rufus Kelly, Jr., 62, a resident of Cowarts, passed away Monday November 28, 2016.


Memorial services will be held at 6pm on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray McKenzie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5pm-6pm.


Mr. Kelly was born September 16, 1954 in Houston County and he resided in Dothan all his life. He was a 1972 graduate of Dothan High School. Mr. Kelly was employed with General Cigar for 35 years until his retirement in 2008. Following his retirement, he repaired small engines and was a contractor with Dish Network. Mr. Kelly was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water.


Survivors include his son Jamie (Carrie) Kelly; his daughter, Jessica (Chad) Welch; his grandchildren, Mabrie and Brackin Welch and Maddox and Addyson Kelly; his mother, Mary Kelly; a brother, Jackie (Renae) Kelly; and his sisters, Frances Looney, Betty Shipes and Ann McKinney; several nieces and nephews including Justin Kelly.
