            Benny Carroll Lisenby, a resident of Abbeville, died early Tuesday morning, September 1, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. He was 80.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 3, 2015, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ryan Johnson and Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the mortuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Maintenance Fund”, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Mr. Lisenby was born in the Capps Community of Henry County and was reared in Abbeville, son of the late Toye Lisenby and Ethel Beamon Lisenby. He was a 1954 graduate of Abbeville High School. Mr. Lisenby served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired as a Rural Mail Carrier in Dothan after twenty-six years employment. In later years, he was engaged in farming.  Mr. Lisenby formerly  served as a basketball referee for the area high schools. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville. Mr. Lisenby was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Larry Ormes and Jerry Summers, Sr. and a sister, Deane Crawford.


            Surviving relatives incude his wife, Shirley Lowman Lisenby, Abbeville; two daughters, Carole Summers, Ozark; and Bonnie Lott (Kenneth), Abbeville; a son, Benny Wayne Lisenby, Abbeville; four grandchildren, Billy Ormes (Teri), Traci Thompson (Kenny), Dana Wofford (Jarred), and Lucas Wayne Lisenby (Erika); six great-grandchildren.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Billy Ormes, Lucas Lisenby, Kenny Thompson, Jarred Wofford, Bill Armstrong, Danny Weathington, and Darrell Fleming.
