Mr. Benny Ray Gaylord, of Webb, AL passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at SEAMC. He was 77.


 


Born March 14, 1937 in Houston County to the late Maxwell and Fannie Bell Mills Gaylord, Mr. Gaylord served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver, driving for Summerford and AMX Trucking Company and enjoyed working in his yard and fishing.


 


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brent Gaylord; his brother, James Maxwell Gaylord; his sister and brother-in-law, Maxine Gaylord Moore and Hardy Moore.


 


He is survived by his wife, Ruby Helms Jackson; his daughter, Gena Gaylord; his step-children, Diane Reese, Bert (Vicki) Jackson, and Gale (Rusty) Smith; his brothers, Thomas Lawson Gaylord and William Lafayette Gaylord; his sisters, Martha Sue (Bud) Gaylord Johnson and Mary Alice Gaylord; his granddaughter, Sarah Gaylord; and several nieces and nephews.


 


Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bryan Simoneaux officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 2 PM until 3 PM service time.


 


Serving as pallbearers will be Rusty Smith, Roger Moore, Ronnie Moore, Steven Moore, Doug Smith, and Brandon Josey.


 


The family will be accepting flowers or donations may be made to First Choice Hospice.
