Bertha Lee Guy Etheridge, 90, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Southeast Health.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Grandstaff and Reverend Billy Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday prior to service time. At other times, the family will be at the residence on 410 Circleview Drive.
Mrs. Etheridge was born December 24, 1931 in Cottonwood to Richmond Houston and Clarice Pastoria Richards Guy and was a 1950 graduate of Cottonwood High School. She was a wife, mother and homemaker for 25 years. Later she was employed with Sony Magnetic Products for 15 years in the packaging department. She also worked with the Department of Leisure Services for 20 years as concessions manager. Mrs. Etheridge was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church for 40 years.
She was a Christian lady with a strong faith in God. Because of this, she was a caring person that showed love to everyone. She wanted those around her to love each other and show kindness and respect to one another. She welcomed everyone to her home. In addition to her own children, she had many “other children” that became part of her family through the years. She was a special lady that will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, a son, Donnie Etheridge, a sister, Myrtle Draughon and three brothers, Ray Guy, Carl Guy and Bill Guy.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Etheridge Laney (Stark) of Dothan, Debra Taylor of Dothan and Carol Wentowski (Mike) of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Jason Etheridge (Kim) of Greenwood, Florida, Stephen Taylor of Dothan, Haley Wentowski (Zack) of Lexington, Kentucky and Brittney Wentowski (Justin) of Gold Hill, Oregon; three sisters, Evelyn Adkins of Dothan, Mae Shelley (Pete) of Tumbleton and Sue Gentle (Steve) of Dothan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Active pallbearers will be: Stephen Taylor, Jason Etheridge, Ronnie Draughon, Tim Draughon, Zack McDonald and Justin Brumble.
