TUMBLETON COMMUNITY…Betty Ann Gamble Smith, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, died Tuesday afternoon, June 1, 2021, in Noland Hospital of injuries sustained Saturday morning, April 24, 2021, in the tornado which occurred at her home near the Tumbleton Community in Henry County. She was 81.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 4, 2021, in the Camp Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the service.
Ms. Smith was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late Morris Glenn Gamble and Varelus Alberta Kirkland Gamble. She was a member of the Camp Springs Baptist Church and had also attended New Zion Free Will Baptist Church. She lived in Columbus and Phenix City before returning to Henry County. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by three children and her sister, Linda Gamble.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Daphie Jennings, Headland; two sons, Charles Bryce Jennings, Jr. (Sherry) and John Jennings (Tiffany), all of Phenix City; six grandchildren, Wendy Dutton, Kerry Dutton, Jr., Matthew Jennings (Dana), Jessica Jennings, Joshwa Summer (Eric) and Jacob Jennings; several cousins, including special cousins, John William Armstrong, Bobbie Jean Taylor and Angie Stinson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Matthew Jennings, Joshwa Summer, Jacob Jennings, Eric Summer, Sam Stinson and Kerry Dutton.
