DOTHAN…Betty Flournoy Bryan, a resident of Dothan, died late Thursday night, April 9, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. She was 81.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. (EDT) Sunday, April 12, 2015, in the New Park Cemetery, Ft. Gaines, Georgia, with Reverend David Bradshaw officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36111.
Mrs. Bryan was born in Columbus and reared in Ft. Gaines, Georgia, daughter of the late Willie Duke Flournoy and Etha Belle Martin Flournoy. She lived most of her lifetime in Ft. Gaines and also lived in Abbeville and Midland City before moving to Dothan in 2013. Mrs. Bryan was a member of the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church. She and her late husband formerly owned and operated Lindy’s Fish Center, near Ft. Gaines. In earlier years, Mrs. Bryan was employed by the Clay County Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse and also in the front office. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindy E. Bryan, Sr., a daughter, Sheila Bryan Thomas, a sister, Helen Baker, four brothers, R.J. Flournoy, Bill Flournoy, Harry Flournoy and Marvin Flournoy.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Amelia Wildes, Dothan; two sons Lindy E. Bryan, Jr., Panama City Beach, FL and Wayne Bryan (Sandy), Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Felton Flournoy (Ramona), Athens, GA; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Flournoy, Albany, GA; seven grandchildren, Erika Porter (Thad), Travis Bryan, Stephanie Iverson (Nate), Courtney Bradshaw (David), Bryan Thomas, Jaci Weems (Phillip), and Nick Bryan; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Joel Flournoy, Steve Flournoy, Ronald Mills, Bill Flournoy and Bruce Mills.
