Betty Jean Elmore Floyd, a resident of Dothan, received her wings on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the age of 63, at Flowers Hospital surrounded by her loving family after an 8 year long, heart-breaking period of physical and mental decline inflicted on her by dementia.


Keeping with Betty’s wishes, the family has chosen to donate her body to ACOM (Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine) our hope is that her body is used to study & learn but also used to research dementia & hopefully one day find the cause & a cure. There will not be funeral services. The family will receive family and friends at her home on Sunday, January 26, 2020 @ 12:00 pm- 4:00 pm for a Celebration of Life service.

Mrs. Floyd was born October 31, 1956, in Dothan, Alabama to the late Buddy Elmore and Mary Frances Robinson Elmore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Harold Elmore; sister, Evelyn Sharpe, sister, Helen Gladden; nephew, Steven Gladden; nephew, Brian Gladden; nephew, Duane Paulk; grandson, Luke Alexander Dean; grandson, Christopher Cody Dean; brother in law, Sidney Paulk; brother in law, Kent Floyd.


Mrs. Floyd was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed terribly by all who knew her. Betty loved children and those with special needs. She retired from Wiregrass Transit Authority at early onset of her illness. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and pets.


Leaving to cherish her memories she is survived by her husband, Billy Floyd; son, Chris Dean; daughter, Sandra Bonds fiancé (Jason Adams); son, Billy Floyd, Jr.; stepson, Chris Floyd; sister, Shirley Paulk; brother, Ronnie Elmore; grandchildren, Bruce and Bailey Mitchell; sister in law, Cathy Elmore; nephew, Johnny (Carla) Elmore; niece, Cynthia Elmore; nephew, Wayne Bennett; niece, Tammy (Earl) Danford; niece, Teresa (Keith) Pitts; nephew, Randy Elmore; niece, Stacey Elmore; brother in law, Robert (Pam) Floyd; niece, Melissa Lynn; nephew, Robert Floyd, Jr,; niece, Tammy Hale Bang; sister in law, Janet Singletary; nephew, Shad Floyd; brother in law, Randy Floyd; sister in law, Tracey Shelton; nephew, Joshua Floyd; nephew, Nick Floyd; special friends, Evelyn (Charles) Adams; special friend, Rhonda Jones; several great nieces & great nephews, numerous cousins and other family members.
