MIDLAND CITY…Betty Jo Long , a resident of Dale County, between Midland City and Echo, died early Wednesday morning, April 27, 2022, at her home. She was 75.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Friday, April 29, 2022, in the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Stephen Windham and Reverend Tim Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Hill Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary and Cremations is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contribution made to the Christian Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Janet Skipper, 1571 County Road 16, Midland City, AL 36350.
Betty Jo Long was born and reared in the Christian Hill Community of Dale County, daughter of the late Cecil Neil Long and Joyce Sewell Long. She was a graduate of the Dale County High School in Midland City. Betty Jo retired from Hazel Hurst Laundry in Dothan after forty years employment. She was a member of the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include two sisters, Loretta Long, Dothan; and Melissa Lunsford, Midland City; three brothers, Daniel Long, Midland City; Cecil Long (Evelyn) Athens, AL; and Victor Long (Cindy), Midland City; aunts, Alice Sewell and Martha Long; numerous cousins, several nieces and nephews.
