Betty Jo Petry Midkiff, a resident of Slocomb, passed away Sunday January 9, 2022 at Flowers Hospital. She was 89 years old.
Funeral Services will be held 11 am on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Betty was born on September 16, 1932 in Orgas, West Virginia and lived there the early years of her life. She met and married Carl Midkiff in 1952. She was an Army Wife and travelled with her husband and kids. She loved to travel and see different cultures. Betty spent seven years in Germany, she traveled to Austria, Switzerland, and many smaller towns while there. She also traveled to Ireland with her daughter, Kay. She lived in W. Virginia, Florida, Virginia, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Ohio, and Alabama in her later years. She worked as a nurse’s aide in nursing homes and loved taking care of the elderly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Etta Petry, her ex-husband, Carl Midkiff, her son-in-law, Dean Turner, many nieces, nephews, her three sisters, and her two brothers.
She is survived by her children, Harold Daniel (Sandy) Midkiff and Lista Kay Midkiff Turner; her grandchildren, Stacie Ann (Josh) Newman, Michael Martel, Charles (Stacie) Keating, and Brooke (Adam) Ward; her great-grandchildren, Bren (Jerrah) Briggs, Aubree (Tanner) Sterling, Adalynn Ward, Alexis Varner, Austin Tillis, and Ashtin (Preston) Herring; her great-great grandchildren, Badin, Brelyn, Byron, Isla, Caysen, and Izzy Griffin; her extended family, Carl and Tina Midkiff, Sarah Midkiff Anderson, and Victouria Midkiff.
