DOTHAN. . .Betty Joy Herndon Rotach, a former resident of Dothan, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022. She was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Elder Clayton Nowell and Elder Eugene Conner officiating. Private graveside services for the family will follow in the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Headland. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 401, Headland, AL 36345 or to the Union Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Judy Conner, 90 Deese-Conner Road, Kinsey, AL 36303.
Betty Rotach was born in Dale County and was raised in Napier Field and Grimes. She lived in Dothan most of her adult lifetime before moving to Houston County, between Webb and Ashford, in 2022. Betty was of the Primitive Baptist faith. She was retired from General Cigar and also from Sears, both in Dothan. In earlier years, Betty was self-employed as a barber. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Connie Lafayette Herndon and Naomi Elizabeth Bond Herndon, her husband, Master Sergeant William C. Poole, a daughter, Patricia Ann Poole Strickland, a grandson, Easton Wells, three brothers, Jesse Herndon, David Herndon and Darwin Herndon, a son-in-law, Alan Robertson, and a brother-in-law, Johnny Buie.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Margie McWhorter Robertson, Jones Creek, Texas; Elaine McWhorter Beck (Ronald Bedford), Dothan; Joy Robley Webb (Donald), Malvern, AL; and Beth Robley McCormick (Robert), Ponce de Leon, FL; two sons, Jimmy McWhorter (Lihua Zeng), Wheat Ridge, CO; and Phillip Robley (Maridol), Aurora, CO; three sisters, Mary Buie, Webb; Lena Patterson, Pensacola; and Lorraine Register (Larry), Chipley; a brother, Sam Herndon (Joyce), Chattahoochee, FL; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
