MIDLAND CITY….Betty Marshall Alverson, a resident of Midland City, died Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2017 at her home. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2017 in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Benny Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Pam Parker, P.O. Box 1055, Midland City, AL 36350.
Mrs. Alverson was a native of Midland City and lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while her husband served in the United States Army. She returned to Midland City in 1974 where she was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW 3073 in Dothan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lunie and Inez Marshall, a daughter, Deloris Alverson, sister, Evelyn White, two brothers, Frankie and Donald Marshall, and a son-in-law, Steve Fontenot.
Surviving are her husband of sixty four years, Leonard Alverson of Midland City; three daughters, Rebecca Fontenot, Breaux Bridge, LA; Deborah “Dee” Spikes (Donny), Headland; Teresa Dehne (Steve), Ashford; four sisters, Nina Beadore; Barbara Green (Joe); Judy Griggs; Joyce Douglas (Ken); two brothers, Ronald Marshall (Linda); Charlie Marshall; five grandchildren, Jennifer Baker (Neil), Jason Fontenot (Jessica), Dylan Wilson, Jenna and Taylor Dehne; eight great-grandchildren, Wheeler and Brennyn Fisher, Riley, Peyton and Hayden Fontenot, Christian Wilson, Maisie Crawford and Madeline Jones.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Fontenot, Wheeler Fisher, Steve Dehne, Ron Marshall, Jr., Butch Beadore, Paul Griggs and Donny Spikes.
