Betty Preston, resident of Pinckard, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at a local hospital. She was 91 years old.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Chris Woodall officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Betty was born on May 17, 1930 to the late Hayward and Georgia Blocker in Newton, AL. Betty was a kindhearted woman who loved her family and the Lord dearly. She would always open her heart and kitchen to those in need, especially children. She was selfless and would put anyone else’s wishes before her own. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Sanford Preston; her daughter, Judy Thomley; her great-grandchild, Aaron Kennedy; and 8 of her siblings.
Betty is survived by her children, Arthur Preston, Norma (Terry) Kurasz, and Cathy (Sam) Carruth; her grandchildren, Kendra (Aaron) Kennedy, Christina (Jody) Smith, Matthew Kurasz, and Alyssa Kurasz; 5 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Wynell Brooks, Darryl (Peggy) Blocker, and Wilton (Lynell) Blocker; her sister-in-law, Susanna Blocker; and a host of extended family members and friends. Serving as active pallbearers will be Earl Blocker, Tony Blocker, Jeff Blocker, Preston Thomley, Chad Bagwell, and Matthew Kurasz.
