BETTY  SMITH  EDWARDS

DOTHAN. . .Betty Smith Edwards, a resident of Dothan, died Monday afternoon, February 17, 2014, at her home. She was 77.

            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 20, 2014, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan with Reverend Norman Brown officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303 or a favorite charity.

            Mrs. Edwards was born in Dale County, and reared in Napier Field. She lived in Dothan all her adult lifetime. Mrs. Edwards was retired as a Department Manager with Sears in Dothan. She was preceded in death by her father, William Henry Smith, her mother, Ruth Hoffman Davis, her step-father, Rufus Davis, and a sister, Dinah Smith.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, Walter Kenneth Edwards, Dothan; two daughters, Sandra Edwards Firestone (Michael), Webb, AL; and Rebecca Edwards Hollis (David), Dothan; a son, Michael Edwards (Laura), Napier Field; seven grandchildren, Brent Parker (April), Jennifer Barton (Matt), Heather Hamilton (Josh), Heath Firestone (Rachel), Brian Taylor (Vicki), Chris Hollis (Elisha), and Joseph Hollis (Jessica); ten great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Joanne Hammond and Helen Hanson; sisters-in-law, Lenore Smith and Patricia Edwards.
