Betty Sue Brown Paschall, of Geneva, Alabama, was born August 1, 1930, and died early Monday, August 28, 2017.
The memorial service celebrating her life will be held Thursday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m. at the Geneva First United Methodist Church, with the Reverends Jake Brady and Dana Brady officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, at the Geneva First United Methodist Church. At all other times, the family will be at the family home. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Geneva.
By her request and following the example of her adored husband, Mrs. Paschall’s body has been donated to medical research, cementing the generous spirit by which they lived their lives.
Mrs. Paschall was born and raised in Hartford, Alabama, by the late James Mather and Ibbie Estelle Ross Brown. She graduated from Geneva County High School and received her diploma as a Registered Nurse from the Moody Hospital School of Nursing. She was instrumental in the founding of the Wiregrass Nursing Home and served as the Director of Nurses and Administrator for 32 years. Her vocation and avocation were in service to countless residents, their families, and the greater community at large. She served as an example and mentor to many, encouraging us all to reach our highest potential.
Mrs. Paschall was a faithful and dedicated member of the Geneva First United Methodist Church, where she served on the Administrative Board, was a long-time member of the United Methodist Women, a member of the choir, and devoted herself to the youth of the church. For decades, she lovingly ministered to grieving families as the Chair of the Bereavement Committee.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Edward Paschall, her parents, her brother, William Thelton Brown, and her son-in-law, Robert William Schiller. Survivors include her four daughters, Karie Mitchell, Birmingham, Alabama; Debra Schiller, McAllen, Texas; Pam and Hiram Brogden, Opp, Alabama; Lisa and Randy Wainwright, Bluewater Bay, Florida; her sister, Jeanette Butts, Montgomery, Alabama; grandchildren, Jay and Elizabeth Mitchell, Ryan and Lynn Mitchell, Laura and Adam Blake, Megan and Marc Braden, Robby and Michele Schiller, Caitlin and Kelly Krezdorn, Elizabeth and Tyler Mackey, Meredith Brogden, David Brogden, Katie and Tyler Fults, Sarah Wainwright and twelve great-grandchildren.
