BETTY SUE GOLDEN
EUFAULA. . .Betty Sue Cutchen Golden, a resident of the Pleasant Hill Community of Barbour County, died Saturday morning, March 31, 2018, in a Dothan hospital. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, 2018, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Clyde Hancock, Jr. and Reverend Woody Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, c/o Peggy Wood, 204 Marina Drive, Eufaula, AL 36027.
“Miss Betty” was born and reared in Newville, daughter of the late Eddie Loran Cutchen and Martha Graves Cutchen. She lived in the Pleasant Hill Community for the past forty-five years. “Miss Betty” was an active member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as church pianist. She also formerly taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served as W.M.U. Director and helped with the mission offerings. Mrs. Golden was retired from B.C. Moore in Eufaula and was formerly employed by WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville and was a seamstress in her home. “Miss Betty” was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Golden, a sister, Carolyn Cutchen Lingo, a grandson, Michael Irvin Carter and two great-granddaughters, Aaliyah Jordan Scoggins and Haley Alyssa Scoggins.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Sue Sharpe (Jimmy), Abbeville; Anita Scoggins (Donnie), Eufaula; and Jerrilyn Carter (Irvin), Abbeville; a son, Jeff Golden (Denise), Dothan; a brother, Kyle Cutchen, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jim Sharpe (Pam), John Scoggins (Brandy), Jeremy Scoggins (Laura), David Carter, Jeffery Golden, Jesse Golden, Loran Golden and Luke Lisenby (Erika); eleven great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren.
