Betty Sue Mahan Gilmore of Samson, AL passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at her home. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Duane Hicks officiating.
Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, beginning at 1 p.m. and continue until service time.
Mrs. Gilmore was born in Covington County, AL on January 20, 1937 to the late Jesse Lee, Sr. and Nora Frances Pridgen Mahan. She was a faithful member of the Samson First Baptist Church for many years. She genuinely loved people and expressed herself through her baking and cooking for them. She was affectionately known to many that loved her and would be introduced to her grandchildren’s friends, simply as “Nana”.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Gilmore; one daughter, Debra D. Bryan Gilmore; son-in-law, Dr. Dwight L. Crews Jr., grandson-in-law, Wesley Holland and great granddaughter, Makenzie Johnson.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry Gilmore Crews, Geneva, AL, Lisa Gilmore Rzoska (Jeff) Goose Creek, SC, Shelly Gilmore, Elba, AL.; eight grandchildren, Steve Stowe (Rene), Dallas, TX, Brandy Holland (Jay McCall), Samson, AL, Trae Crews (Rebecca), Geneva, AL, Kyle Owens, Charlotte, SC, Sydney Russell (Devin Jones), Samson, AL, Kayla Owens, Goose Creek, SC, Charli Adams, Samson, AL and Blake Rzoska, Goose Creek, SC., one brother, Jesse Lee Mahan, Jr., Samson, AL , 8 great-grandchildren.
and a number of special nieces and nephews.
