Beverly “Nana” Geyer, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Monday, February 13. She was 97 years old.


Graveside services for family and close friends will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.


Beverly was born on May 28, 1925 in Corning, New York to Charles and Gladys Thomas and was the oldest of three girls. She was married to Philip Woolwine in 1948 and they moved to Clearmont, Florida with their three dauthers in 1963. Philip passed away in 1965, and Beverly remarried to Jim Geyer in 1971, then moved to his farm in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1972. For many years they would summer in Indiana at the farm and then travel to Dothan, Alabama and to Florida to spend the winter months close to family and friends. They finally moved to Dothan in 1999 and lived together in a small farmhouse to be close to her daughter’s family. Beverly and Jim loved to play boardgames together, including a standing date everyday at 3pm to play Scrabble. Her grandchildren and great grandchidlren say she was known for her sweet tooth, carrying chocolate candies in her walker wherever she went, and her grandchildren loved giving her chocolate gifts that would make her smile. Beverly loved creating intricate sewing crafts for her family, and she made a special crochet blanket for each of her grandchildren to cherish.


Mrs. Geyer was preceded in death by her husbands Philip Woolwine and James “Jim” Geyer, sisters Arlene Lawler and Phyllis Sproule, daughters Vonnie Stark and Pamela Godwin, and granddaughter Cheryl Melvin.



Survivors include her daughter Vickie Bourgeois, her 6 Grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
