Beverly Ree Benson of Pensacola passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018. She was 77. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Geneva with Rev. Jake Brady and Rev. Dana Brady, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva beginning at 1:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Rich Bixby, Craig Culverhouse, Britton Finch, Craig Hammock, Brent Johnson, and Darrell Walker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Geneva First United Methodist Church, 304 S. Academy St., Geneva, AL, 36340, or the Geneva High School General Scholarship Fund, c/o Barbara Peak, Samson Banking Co., 105 N. Commerce St., Geneva, AL 36340. Donations may also be taken to the office at GHS.
Beverly was born in Pensacola, FL on April 27, 1941, to the late W.T. Benson and Marie Chapman Benson. She attended the Pensacola First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Geneva High School, Class of 1959, where she was a member of the high school band. Ms. Benson attended Huntingdon College and graduated from Auburn University. She did social work with special needs children in St. Louis, MO. Prior to her retirement, she was an antique dealer in Alexandria, VA, and Pensacola, FL. She was preceded in death by her sister, Laurie Lynn Benson Morris.
She is survived by two brothers, Joe Dan Benson of Dothan and Juan Hernandez of Miami, FL; and four nephews, Art Morris, III (Christy) of Dothan, Benson Morris of Clarksville, TN, Carlisle Morris (Lisa) of Dothan, and Bill Morris (Robin) of Jackson, MS.
