Bill B. Faulk, of Dothan, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at his residence. He was 93.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday, November 13, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 1-2 pm before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local AM Legion Post.
Mr. Faulk was born in Houston County, Alabama on January 18, 1924. Following his graduation from Wicksburg High School in 1943, he entered the U.S. Army. On June 21, 1945, he married Reba Shute. He attended Veterans Training Schools in Dothan; USDA Training Program in Athens, GA; SCS Training Programs in Auburn, AL; and Enterprise State Jr. College. Mr. Faulk was a member of the Association of the United States Army, the National Gospel Singing Association and was selected the Coffee County Delegate to the Alabama State Gospel Singing Convention. He was employed by the USDA Soil Conservation Service until his retirement in 1984 after 31 years of service. Mr. Faulk lived in Coffee County for over 25 years, and after his retirement from the USDA in 1984, he was elected to the Coffee County Commission and represented the commission on the Emergency Management Committee, Agriculture Planning Committee Buildings and Ground and received an award from the Alabama Association of Conservation Districts for outstanding elected official in 1987 for projects obtained and erosion controls in Coffee County. He served as a commissioner from 1984-1996. Mr. Faulk was a member and former Commander of the American Legion Post #42 in Elba, Alabama; member of the Kiwanis Club in Enterprise; Woodmen of the World; United Commercial Travelers; Enterprise Chamber of Commerce; and Girl Scout Camp Humming Hills Development Committee and assisted with the camp site purchase in 1965 and the development since. On February 14, 2009, he married Daisy Manning.
Mr. Faulk was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Linnie Tomley Faulk; his former wife, Reba Faulk; his daughter, Sharon Magnus; his brothers, J.B. Faulk, Wamon Faulk, O.L. Faulk and Moody Faulk; sisters, Elmira Searcy and Bernice Rice.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Faulk; his sons, Billy G. (Geri) Faulk and Samuel N. (Vikki) Faulk; and grandchildren, Shea and Craig and 2 great-grandchildren.
