Billy Buker, 82, of Dothan passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Bill Nichols Veterans Hospital in Alexander City, AL.

Memorial services with military honors will be held 2 pm Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Coley Holloway officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Buker was born December 28, 1928 in Dothan, AL and lived here the early part of his life. He joined the U.S. Navy at an early age and was a Veteran of World War II serving for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1967. He was later employed as a truck driver for 5 years and later at Ft. Rucker as an avionics electronic technician with DynCorp until 1986. Mr. Buker was a member of the VFW in Daleville.

Survivors include his sons, James Buker and Louis Buker (fiancé Frances Maya); daughters, Barbara Underwood and Betty Cote; 6 grandchildren, Terry Underwood, Felicia Underwood, Jeremy Cote, Christina Cote, Jacob Buker, and Jessa Buker; 1 great-grandchild Abigail; sisters, Jean Chellotte and Alice LeBouef; several nieces and nephews also survive.
