Billy Clifton Whitehead, aged 79 of Dothan, passed away Friday morning, July 9, 2021, at Southeast Health, following a brief illness. Per his last wishes, there will be no official services. However, there will be a memorial service for him at a later undetermined date.
Billy was born in Enterprise, Alabama on April 10, 1942, to the late Wilbur and Allie Louise MaudlinWhitehead. He was raised in Enterprise, Alabama by a host of family members including his father, paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. He moved to Dothan in the early 1970’s and was a former member of Southside Baptist Church, Memphis Baptist Church, and was a current member of Grandview Baptist Church. He was known for sitting on the end of the pew and always making everyone smile and laugh every Sunday morning. He was a Construction Superintendent, building numerous hospitals, medical clinics, and restaurant franchises across the United States. He was over the construction of the Doctor’s Center and 6th and 7thfloors of the former Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a son, Billy C. “Bill” Whitehead Jr., and a daughter, Debbie Elizabeth Whitehead.
In addition to his wife, Sherry, he is survived by a daughter, Connie Carnley (Mike) of Brundidge; a son, Matthew “Matt” Whitehead (Jackie) of Taylor; a stepson, Patrick “Pat” Kelly Jr. (Jennifer “Jen”) of Rapid City, SD; 10 grandchildren, Clifton “Wade” Whitehead (Amanda); Amber Whitehead; Brittany Wimberly; Wesley Stokes (Tiffany); Eric Stokes; Austin Whitehead; Cameron Whitehead; Brett “Buster” Kelly (Lindsey); Shannon Kelly; and Meghan Kelly; and 13 great grandchildren.
