KINSEY. . .Billy D. Doswell, a resident of Kinsey, died late Tuesday afternoon, May 1, 2018, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. He was 85.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M Friday, May 4, 2018, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Reverend Brad Hardy officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the sanctuary of the Kinsey Baptist Church. At other times, the family will be at the home of his son, 126 Lynn Jarvis Road, Kinsey.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.


            Mr. Doswell was born and reared in Newville, son of the late Howard Doswell  and Cazzie Tew Doswell. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korea War. Mr. Doswell lived in Kinsey all his adult lifetime where he was a member of the Kinsey Baptist Church. He was retired as a Construction Superintendent from Faulkner Construction Company.  Mr. Doswell was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hagler Doswell, a great-grandson, Hunter Senn and a brother, Joe Doswell.


            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Carol Doswell, Kinsey; Sharon Elliott (Braxton), Columbia; and Leah Childree (Jessie), Kinsey; a son, Durwood Doswell (Sharon), Kinsey; a brother, Glenn Doswell (Patricia), Montgomery; twelve grandchildren, Brandon Elliott (Rachael), Alaina Sowell (Chad), Crystal Westrick (Michael), Terri Austin, Jeremy Doswell (Cheryl), Jason Doswell (Amber), Justin Sims, Brittin Sims (Haley), Bailey Sims, Emily Childree, Bradley Childree and David Sims; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gwen Doswell and Nell Moore (Sam), brothers-in-law, Virgle Hagler and Charles Hall; several nieces and nephews.


            The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Henry County Health & Rehab for their dedication to his care for the past three years.
