Billy (Duane) Waldrup

Billy (Duane) Waldrup, 66, passed away at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, AL on March 9, 2024.

Duane was born December 1, 1957 in Luka, MS to Billy J. and Virginia Waldrup. He was raised in Vidor, TX attending Little Cypress-Mauriceville schools. He worked as a Carpenter, Ironworker, and Certified Welding Supervisor/Radiographer. Duane had many interests and was a proud 32nd Degree Freemason. He had a passion for metal detecting and was featured in a popular hobbyist magazine. He collected movies, comic books and science fiction memorabilia. He loved his family, his wife of 20 years Shena Gable and their many friends. Spending time with family or friends is where he most wanted to be. He had a boisterous laugh, quick wit and huge tender heart.

Duane is survived by his four children Joni Waldrup (Matt Kissel) of FL, Jeremy Waldrup of WA, Julie Hamilton of AL, Jessica Waldrup of MA, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, Aunt Fannie Williams of TX, many cousins and numerous beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his wife and parents. Duane’s wishes were to not have a service and for his cremains to be interned with Shena at Sunset Memorial Park in Midland City, AL.
