Billy Frye of Ashford has Passed Away

Carl Gareth (Billy) Frye passed away in Tampa, Florida following surgery late Tuesday afternoon September 6, 2016. He was born on October 5, 1942 to Carl and Louise Bailey Frye of Frisco City, AL.
Visitation with the family will be at 1:30 pm followed by funeral services at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2016 both at Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, AL. Reverends Lynn Miley and Joe Wyatt will lead the service Saturday. Burial will follow at Cowarts Creek Church Cemetery on Lucy Grade Road. In lieu of flowers the family request that Mr. Frye be honored by donations made to Cowarts Creek Church, c/o Mr. Rodney Fowler, 104 Coot Fowler Road, Dothan, AL 36301 or The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
Billy graduated from Frisco City High School in Monroe County. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Troy University and a Master’s Degree from The University of Alabama. During thirty-eight years of public education, Billy served as coach, teacher and guidance counselor in Jackson County, FL; Cuthbert, GA; Dothan City and Houston County schools. In retirement Billy enjoyed raising cattle, traveling, hunting and visiting the tri-state area football coaches. He was married for more than forty-nine years to Delores Crowley Frye.
He is survived by Jeffrey Frye, his wife Tracy and their two daughters Campbell and Presley; Renee’ Frye Stimpson, her husband James and their sons Clif and Reid; and Marla Frye Cole, her husband Laird and their sons Houston and Liam. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Mildred Crowley, sister-in-law Gerutha Love and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be at the Frye home on Lucy Grade Road. Ward Wilson 334-792-4194 is in charge of arrangements.
