ABBEVILLE. . .Billy Hugh Blankenship, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died early Thursday morning, September 29, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 2, 2022, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Mr. Blankenship was born and reared in Henry County, near Clopton, son of the late Fred Blankenship and Jewell Price Blankenship. He was self-employed as the President, Owner and Operator of BSB Trucking, Inc. and also Blankenship Logging, Inc. Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by two sisters, Annette Rogers and Judy Shelley and two brothers, James Fred Blankenship and Jack Blankenship.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sheila Nolan Blankenship, a daughter, Sherry Robison (Harold), Abbeville; a son, Bill Blankenship (Stacy), Abbeville; four grandchildren, Cody Blankenship (Alexa), Cade Blankenship (Anabeth), Jenna Robison and Zack Robison (Jessica), three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Blankenship, Harper Blankenship and Banks Blankenship, a sister, Martha McCraney (Joe), Louisville, AL; two brothers, Nathan Blankenship (Barbara), Sneads, FL; and Ronald Blankenship (Sue), Shorterville; sisters-in-law, Billie Jewell Blankenship, Clio, AL; and Martha Blankenship Kelley, Abbeville; a brother-in-law, Larry Nolan (Mary Jane), Abbeville.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Joe McCraney, Joe McCraney, Jr., Tommy Nolan, Ricky Blankenship, Tim Blankenship and Robert Bileau.
