Billy Jim Edmondson
Billy Edmondson, age 86 of Dothan died late Saturday night April 27, 2019 in a local hospital after an extended illness.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 1, 2019 in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Rev. Joey Hudspeth officiating and Family First Funeral & Cremation Care directing. Serving as active pallbearers will be Matthew Granberry, Justin Granberry, Joshua Edmondson, Jacob Edmondson and Jim Robertson. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 Wednesday morning at Family First. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center 1314 Westgate Parkway, Suite 2 Dothan, AL 36303.
Mr. Edmondson was born in Houston County son of the late Stephen A. Edmondson and Ethel Milner Edmondson. Billy grew up in the Columbia area and later served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired in 2007 from AAA Cooper Transport Company as an over the road truck driver with 30 plus years’ service. He loved being outside working in his yard and made time to assist helping others as well. He had a special love for his canine pet “Missy”. Billy was a faithful son and continued to be a faithful husband to his beloved wife up until his death. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Wallace Todd.
Survivors include his wife Mary York Edmondson of Dothan, a son Michael Edmondson (Bonnie) of Leesburg, GA., a daughter Lori Bolinger of Midland City, a brother Steve A. Edmondson (Mary), a sister Mary Todd all of Dothan, 4 grandsons Matthew Granberry (Dawn), Justin Granberry (Lindsey), Joshua Edmondson and Jacob Edmondson.
Care for the Edmondson family is being provided by Randy Crenshaw, Jason Shepard and the Family First Staff.
