Born February 21, 1952 in Camp Rucker, AL, he was the son of the late Joe D. Baker and Minnie Florence Baker. He was the loving husband of Cherie Beyer Baker, his wife of 38 years who was by his side until he went home to join the Lord in Heaven.
BJ started his post education career at WIRB as a radio disc jockey. In 1971, BJ then started his military career in the US Army until 1974 which included one tour in Korea. He retired from the US Army Reserves in 2001 and served over 25 years. He started at the 851st Supply and Service and then later years, he served in the 416th Engineer command. He also worked for civil service at Fort Rucker for over 25 years as well where he retired. While this is how the rest of the world may remember him most for, his close friends and family remember him as a strong man with a big heart who loved his family and friends more than anything in the world and next to that he loved music and Alabama football.
Survivors include his son Brandon Lee Baker of Enterprise, daughter Nichole Lindsey Culp and her husband, Jonathan Culp of Red Lion, PA; two beloved grandchildren, Peyton and Avery Culp; and several other close relatives in upstate New York who he loved dearly and he had a special place in his heart for his grand nephew Zach Waugh .
