DOTHAN…Billy Joe Oliver, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday afternoon, January 8, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 10, 2015 in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Mr. Kenneth Davidson officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary.
Mr. Oliver was born and reared in Cottonwood, son of the late Crawford F. Oliver and Sevenia L.Vann Oliver. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War before moving to Dothan in 1969. Mr. Oliver was retired as a route salesman with Frito-Lay Snack Foods and in earlier years was employed with Golden Flake and Dixie Snack Company. He was a member of the Old Webb Road Baptist Church. Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Love, two brothers, James Oliver and Junior Oliver, and a nephew, Charles Love.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Edna Love Oliver; Dothan; a sister-in-law, Martha I. Conner (Malcolm), Dothan; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Malinda Turner (Eddie); a nephew, Jerry Conner and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
