Billy (Bill) Joe Vanlandingham, 82, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away April 22, 2019. Bill was born December 14, 1936 in Geneva, Alabama to the late Samuel Buel Vanlandingham and Audrey Pauline Vanlandingham (Martin).


Graveside service at 11 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Memory Hill Cemetery, the family will receive friends one-hour prior at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.


Bill graduated from Geneva High School in 1955 and attended University of Alabama and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He served in the U.S. Navy in flight training and later as a hospital Corpsman. He served in the Naval Reserve as a Seebee.


Involved in the construction business most of his life, he was a contractor in Dothan with his father and a brother for years. Many Dothan residents live in the custom-built homes that were constructed by them. He worked as a draftsman for architect George Yates in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He ended his career at southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan as Director of Design Management where he worked for 20 years.


Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Sammy Vanlandingham.


He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Mary Ann Vanlandingham, daughter: Lori (Phil) Dark, son: Travis (Jada) Vanlandingham, granddaughters: Rachel, Leah, and Audrey Vanlandingham.
