HOLMAN ABBEVILLE MORTUARY
BILLY MARTIN HARDWICK
FT. GAINES, GEORGIA. . .Billy Martin Hardwick, a resident of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died Friday night, July 5, 2013, in a Dothan hospital. He was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (E.D.T.), Monday, July 8, 2013, in the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Hines and Reverend Mike Lee officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the New Park Cemetery in Ft. Gaines with Reverend Randy Stokes officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Al. Time or 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Ga. time Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church, P.O. Box 248, Ft. Gaines, Georgia 39851.
Mr. Hardwick was a lifelong resident of Ft. Gaines, son of the late Roscoe M. Hardwick and Lillian Tye Hardwick. He served his country in the United States Marines Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Hardwick was retired from Golden Peanut Company and also Archie Daniel Midland Peanut Company as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church. Mr. Hardwick was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Hardwick Hubbard, three sisters, Dorothy LeRoy, Patsy Butterfield, and Wynnette Bryan, and a brother, Manning Hardwick.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Dorothy Peak (Dot) Hardwick, a son, Gary Hardwick and wife, Dawn, all of Ft. Gaines; a sister, Margaret Williams, Marietta, GA; a brother, Jerry Hardwick, Ft. Gaines; a brother-in-law, Charles Butterfield, Orlando, FL; six grandchildren, Joey Skipper (Callie), Felicia Bowen (Chad), Eric Spivey (Jessica), Keisha Hardwick, Roger Hubbard, and Russell Hubbard; six great-grandchildren, Emma Spivey, Loren Spivey, Emily Bowen, Abbie Bowen, Ava Skipper, and Cora Kate Skipper.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Joey Skipper, Eric Spivey, Chad Bowen, Alan Crozier, David Lee, and Bobby Wills. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jack Durham, Sammy Peak, Bobby Peak, Troy Yancey, Robert Odom, Robert Sanders, and Robert Edward Phillips, Jr.
