HEADLAND. . .Billy Ray Hancock, a resident of County Road 3, Headland, died late Sunday night, December 11, 2011, at  his home. He was 74.


           


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2011, in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, near Grimes, with Reverend Danny Quincey and Reverend Teddy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.


           


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1550 Parramore Road, Dothan, AL. 36303.


           


Mr. Hancock was born and reared in Dale County, near Headland, son of the late James Travis Hancock and Tera V. Bagwell Hancock. He lived near Headland all his lifetime. Mr. Hancock served his country in the United States Air Force. An active member and Deacon of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, he served on most committees and church activities. Mr. Hancock was retired from Pemco World Air Services at Napier Field as a Contract Administrator. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genella Kennedy Hancock and a brother, James Leon Hancock.


           


Surviving relatives include two sons, Wayne Hancock and wife, Tammie, Headland; Terry Hancock and wife, Andria, Williamston, S.C.; a sister, Lois Byrd, Eufaula; a sister-in-law, Erma Hancock, Headland; four grandchildren, Allison Tinius and husband, Josh, Brady Hancock, Teri Lee Castillo and husband, Steven, and Travis Hancock and wife, Susanna; two great-grandchildren, Carter Castillo and Henry Hancock.


           


Serving as active pallbearers will be Lendon Scott, Randy Harrison, Scotty Scott, James Coe, Steve Hancock, Jay Henry and Joe Hancock.
