HEADLAND. . .Billy Ray Shelley, a resident of Headland, died Monday morning, April 2, 2018, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jerry Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Balkum Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Mr. Shelley was born and reared in the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, son of the late John Huey Shelley and Alma Hutto Shelley. He lived in Kinsey and the Screamer Community of Henry County before moving to Headland in 2010. Mr. Shelley was retired from Howell Plywood, Inc. after twenty-six years of employment. He served his country in the Army National Guard, Abbeville Unit. Mr. Shelley was a member of the Balkum Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Lee Shelley and two sisters, Patsy Shelley and Mary Emma Hutto.
Surviving relatives include several special cousins.
