Billy Byrd of Enterprise, AL passed away Monday, December 17, 2012, at his home. He was 79. Born on Dec. 21, 1932. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Quincey officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the New Home Baptist Church Family Life Center, 2734 County Rd. 617, Enterprise, AL 36330. Mr. Byrd is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel & Ethel Byrd, a son, Bron Pittman, a sister, Mable Grimes and a brother Carrol Byrd. Mr. Byrd worked under different contractors at Ft. Rucker as a maintenance foreman for over 47 years. Survivors include his wife, Patsy F. Byrd; two daughters and son-in- law, Pam Donaldson, and Sloan Melton (Ray), Enterprise, AL; three sons and daughter-in-law, Mike Byrd (Christine), Steve Byrd, Tim Byrd, all of Enterprise, AL; seven grandchildren, Adam Donaldson (Lindsey), Montgomery, AL, Aaron Byrd, Dallas, TX, Andrew Donaldson, Steven Byrd, Gunter Thornton (Courtney), Garret Thornton(Devin) and Saige Thornton, all of Enterprise, AL; four great-grandchildren, Caden Donaldson, Montgomery, AL, Evin, Easton and Hudson Thornton, Enterprise, AL, one sister, Vestaline Counts, Enterprise, AL. Serving as pallbearers will be, Gunter and Garret Thornton, Adam and Andrew Donaldson, Steven Byrd, Con Ezell, and Brian Peacock. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Day Spring hospice for their loving care of Billy during his sickness.
