Mr. Smith was born in Troy, AL on January 12, 1936 to the late Grover and Willie Senn Smith. Bishop Smith and his wife, Mary Jane Smith helped founder the Pentecostal Assembly of Jesus Christ in Ocoee, Florida in 1963 and served as Trustee and adult Bible teacher. He served as Pastor of Pentecostal Tabernacle from 1975 - 2012 at which time he resigned and began traveling and evangelizing all over the southeastern United States. If Bishop Smith could preach to all of his friends and family one more time he would preach what Peter did on the day of Pentecost – Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 was his message.

He is survived by one son, Michael Smith, Sr. (Alisa Jan) of Enterprise, AL; three grandchildren, Rev. Michael Smith, Jr. (Holly), Rev. Joseph Caston Smith (Misty), and David Smith (Yasha); four great-grandchildren, Maryh’annah, Felicity, Mary Jane, and Annalise Smith; one brother, Jimmy Smith (Ramona); and one special niece Shirley Burns of Daleville, AL.

Rest in peace, Bishop until that great day of the Lord when the dead in Christ will rise first!
