 Blanche Joiner Etheredge


Blanche Joiner Etheredge, 87, of Leesburg, died Monday, November 10, 2014. She was born on Sept. 3, 1927 to Richard and Vera Joiner in Ashford, Ala. In 1963, she and her late husband, Talmadge, moved to Leesburg, Fla. and purchased Haines Creek Cottages. They developed Bonfire Mobile Village in Leesburg and Riverview Mobile Estates in Homosassa.She enjoyed spending time with family, watching the Florida Gators, dancing, reading and living life to the fullest. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg for five decades.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Talmadge Etheredge, and by brothers, Carl, Floyd and Wallace Joiner and sisters, Mary Etta Kelly, Madge Hughes and Grace Meadows.


Survivors include her four children: Jenann (Donald) Sisemore of Bradenton, Fla.; Steve (Karen) Etheredge of Dothan, Ala.; Dr. R. Kim (Michele) Etheredge of Leesburg, Fla.; and Tammi (Rob) Green of Trinity, Fla. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Scott (Kelly) Dressel, Kellie (Rob) Viera, Allyson (Allen) Dozier; Stephen (Katherine) Etheredge; Lauren (Will) Bigham; Wesley, Shannon and Brian Etheredge; Sydney and Zachary Green; and 10 great-grandchildren: Katelyn and Trevor Viera; Walker and Evan Dressel; Stephen T. Etheredge III; Preston, Rhett and Blake Bigham; Mary McKinnon and Mac Dozier.


Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014, in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Leesburg, 220 N. 13th St., Leesburg, Fla.  A private interment will be at Liberty Baptist Church cemetery in Pansey, Ala. with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Blanche’s name to First Baptist Church of Leesburg.
