Bobbie Jean Smith
Bobbie Jean Everett Smith, 74, of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Southeast Health.
Bobbie Jean, the only daughter of Dewey Robert Everett and Thelma Mae Fowler Everett, was born on July 2, 1946, at Moody’s Hospital and grew up in Midland City with her brothers Terry, Jerald, and Ronnie. Bobbie graduated from Dale County High School, where she was a majorette and played clarinet. She later obtained an nursing degree and worked as a licensed practical nurse at SAMC. She found her true calling caring for her “babies” at Extendicare Health and providing private duty nursing services.
Bobbie Jean is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry Allen Smith. She raised two daughters, Donna (Bradley) Sonday and Kelli (Scott) Dwiggins. Bobbie loved being MawMaw to granddaughters, Victoria (Tyler) Ferguson, Haley (Collin) Senglaub, Keelin Mitchell, and Madison Jackson. There is little that she enjoyed more than videos of and visiting with her great-grandson, Oliver (2) Ferguson.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by Jerry, her brothers Ronald Terry (Barbara) Everett, Jerald Davis (Jean) Everett, and Ronald Folwer (Sally) Everett, as well as her daughters, grandchildren and great grandson. Additionally, Bobbie Jean was a cherished sister-in-law to Billy (Jean) Smith, Robert (Teri) Smith, Fred (Alisa) Smith, and Max (Judy) Smith. She loved and was proud of her bonus children, Barbara Smith, Bobby Smith, and Deborah Mercer and their children.
A memorial service for family will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Family First Funeral Care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
