DOTHAN. . .Bobby Ray Norton, a resident of Dothan, died early Sunday morning, September 22, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 93.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Reverend Brad Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey Baptist Church, 6745 Walden Drive, Kinsey, AL 36303.
Mr. Norton was born and reared in the Wicksburg community of Houston County, son of the late William Talmadge Norton and Myrtle Lee Casey Norton. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He later served in the Air National Guard in the Dothan unit. Mr. Norton was an active member of the Kinsey Baptist Church where he formerly taught the Oree Hardy Sunday School Class, served as Chairman of Deacons, and as a participant in most other church activities. He was retired as the President and owner and operator of Norton’s T.V., Inc. Mr. Norton was preceded in death by his wife, Madiolan “Madie” McGowan Norton, a brother, William Lee Norton, Sr. and sisters, Marjorie Nolen and Betty Mobley.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Debbie Norton Aman (Donnie), Headland; and Cindy Norton Medley, Dothan; a son, Bart Norton, Dothan; grandchildren, Ashley Bass (Kevin), Clay Aman, Jennifer Medley, Justin Medley and Emily Norton Snyder (Ronnie), great-grandchildren, Trenton Medley, Nikolai Snyder, Cade Blankenship (Anabeth), Cody Blankenship (Alexa), Kyleigh Bass, Kinley Bass, Katlyn Miller (Tyler), and Cole Bass (Brianna), great-great-grandchildren, Lizzy Blankenship, Harper Blankenship, Banks Blankenship, Oakley Miller, Hartlyn Miller, Presley Miller and Bailey Bass.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Clay Aman, Justin Medley, Cade Blankenship, Kevin Bass, Cody Blankenship and Trent Medley.
